Treatment of Varicose Veins with Microfoam

Microfoam techniques are used for the closure of diseased veins using a particularly well-tolerated pharmacological substance (Aethoxysklerol), or alternatively biosubstances. While earlier sclerotherapy treatments with liquid agents were uncontrollable (you cannot see where which concentration ends up) and often had to be repeated, microfoam is much more precisely controllable: First, its distribution can be accurately tracked on ultrasound imaging. Second, it adheres to the vein wall for a few minutes before dissolving and being eliminated. This contact time means that even with very low concentrations, a high level of effectiveness is achieved.

What makes angioclinic® microfoam treatments special is that the foam is individually prepared for the vein situation and introduced so precisely under high-resolution ultrasound that we speak of "selective microfoam therapy". This means the foam works exactly as intended. In this way, specialized applications become possible:

• Varicose veins after previous vein surgery
• Varicose veins of particular size or length, instead of surgery
• Varicose veins with particularly bothersome cosmetic significance
• Reticular varicose veins
• Varicose veins in the genital area in women (e.g., vulvar varicosities) and men (varicocele)
• Varicose veins deep in the leg or in the abdomen (e.g., after thrombosis)
• Varicose veins on the face, chest, or arms
• Venous malformations in all areas of the body
• Hemorrhoids grade 1-3
